RESULTS OF A FUNCTIONAL FIELD TEST USING DAL-994®, OVERSEEING BY INTEVEP TECHNICIANS.

Location: Macolla P4 of the Petrocedeño company in San Diego de Cabruticas, Anzoátegui State (inside the Orinoco Oil Belt) in Venezuela.

Date: August 23 to 28, 2023.

Initial situation of the cluster and background of the test.

All the heavy crude oil extracted at P4 (typical tail cluster), is diluted and transported along three kilometers of pipelines with the power supplied by the pumps at each well, until it reaches cluster P2 where it gets re-pumped to a main station.

Petrocedeño’s management knew about the benefits of DAL-994® from previous tests and aware of the demanding characteristics of the P4 cluster, decided to test DAL-994® and invite INTEVEP to act as auditor during tests.

2,000 barrels of naphtha per day had to be injected (900 at the wellhead, and 1,100 at the exit of the line) in order to be able to achieve transportation of the 1,253 barrels of extra heavy crude oil that were produced daily from cluster P4 to P2 at pressures above 26 Barg.

Situation reached after adding DAL-994® to the heavy crude oil

By properly mixing the DAL-994® with the naphtha and injecting only a total of 272 barrels of naphtha per day, it was possible to shift all the production from the P4 cluster to the P2 cluster at a pressure of 18.5 Barg, reducing the viscosity of the crude oil, increasing its API grade and achieving improvements in mobility of the crude oil mixed with DAL-994®.

SUMMARY OF THE ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE TEST CARRIED OUT UNDER  INTEVEP OVERSEEING

  • Nafta consumption in the cluster was lowered from 2,000 to 272 barrels per day.
  • There was a decrease in tiller discharge pressure.
  • There was a reduction in the viscosity of the crude oil of 3 (three) times.
  • An increase in API gravity of 3 degrees was achieved (well P4-20).
  • The improvement in the mobility and homogeneity of the crude oil can be seen in the video.
